A recipient of the Toronto Arts Council’s Mentorship Grant (2018), she was introduced to ceramics by Canadian artist Erin Candela, a pivotal moment in the trajectory of her career.

Enas’ hand-built, hand-painted ceramics explore identity, history, and memory. Her Girls’ Songs series, including one of her signature vases, is part of the Museum of Canadian Art’s permanent collection, alongside several of her illustrated works.

Originally trained as an architect, Enas transitioned to graphic design, earning a Master’s from ISIA Florence in 2013 before moving into digital art and ceramics. “I crossed a few bridges to get here, and now I am here, and should start working.

Mission Statement.

I might’ve found the warmest form of expression when I found clay. I’m intrigued by the spirit the clay carries through centuries of ancestry to find its place in the routine of our daily rituals. With my pieces, I add myself and my voice to the ongoing exercise of creation, I see the clay as a canvas to draw faces, movements, attitudes and above all; tell our story.

In ‘Aghani Banat; daloka Series, through hand-built forms and strokes of underglaze, I retell the story of my culture, impelled by the strong voices of Sudanese women ushered by the beats of the drum.
